About The Broken Quill

Pot1

The Broken Quill. You might be asking what kind of a fruit cake names their blog The Broken Quill. After all, quills are a bit out of fashion, and a broken one would certainly be of no use. But when a friend suggested the name, I immediately latched onto it, because it fit me so well.

Why?

Because I’m a writer, which explains the quill part, even though I don’t own a quill. “Broken” is for what I am – or for what I strive to be. Scripture says that God will not despise a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17), and He desires these more than any other sacrifice.

So The Broken Quill is just another name for myself. I am not what anyone on this earth might see as useful, but I know God views this broken vessel differently. I want to be the broken quill in His hand. A utensil that He uses to make Himself look like the Wonderful Counselor, Might God that He is. I believe God has placed the desire in my heart to write. It is nothing short of amazing that He would use me, but that makes the journey more exciting and worthwhile.

My hope is that you will join me on this journey, as I pen the words God has chosen to put in my heart.

  4. Duane thought of that name? Perfect.

Reminds me of Mother Teresa: “We are all pencils in the hand of God.”

In your case, a quill. And a broken one. The best.
