How to Continue Using Grammarly and the Classic Editor in WordPress

Hello friends! I hope you are all having a safe and productive day.

I blogged about this recently elsewhere and thought it could definitely be of use to some of my readers here – especially if you’re struggling without Grammarly in the new block editor.

So there is a way to bypass using the new block editor in WordPress if you find that you’re more comfortable with the classic editor. I guess it’s simply a matter of taste and what works for you best. I have found the block editor to be quite useful especially for formatting posts with additional functionality but I also like editing on the fly as well which cannot be done using Grammarly with the block editor.

So all you need to do is to open your WP-Admin page which you should be able to access directly from your dashboard menu (right at the bottom on the left-hand menu). Open that and then create your post as normal. This part of the CMS is still tied to the classic editor but I am not sure if Automattic plans to change this. I guess it’s a matter of using it while you still can!

And you will also find that Grammarly will work perfectly fine in your WP-Admin post as well! I discovered these things by accident as I was editing a post via the WP-Admin section the other day. The green Grammarly icon that sits at bottom of the page just suddenly reappeared.

Of course, there are many ways to skin a cat and you may have already found a better way to get around the editing process in the block editor. I also use ProWritingAid and found it increasingly difficult to copy from WP to that interface. I was simply writing all of my posts in the ProWritingAid app and then copying it over to WP.

If you have any other helpful workarounds you’re using in your writing and editing process, do let me know in the comments!

Until my next post, stay safe out there, keep writing and I’ll catch you later.
