Sometimes I wish for days to end
And others, I am happy to have another day
Happy that this day is not my last
And that thought lingers through the darker moments
I wish to win Lotto! Sometimes, I really do
It’s not bad to wish for something you want
But then I wonder what I’d do if I actually won
And that thought takes me into an impossible daydream
Sometimes, I wish I didn’t have the types of troubles that I do
Sometimes I don’t want to be the dutiful daughter
Sometimes I don’t want to be the hard worker
It’s okay to want to slack off every now and then
And that thought makes me sit up and get right back to it
We can wish and wish and wish away the day
We can wish for anything we want
But eventually, you realise that
A wish is nothing more than thoughts about a world
You’ll never see
And that thought makes me wish I had fallen asleep instead
