We are like waves

That crash upon the shore

Only to be taken in

By the sand’s embrace

Absorbed into its gentle grace

Some of us

Are docile waves

That ebb and flow

And some of us are

Troubled tidal waves

Primal and dark

Dangerous and deep

With secrets to keep

And others are the Maelstrom

Destructive and uncaring

Destroying all in its path

To wander alone

To languish in the dark

Still, we all end up the same

Waves that crash

Upon the shore

Returning to the sand’s embrace

Absorbed into its gentle grace

  1. Dear Julie, I loved your work tonight. I love the sea. One day, I will find the Pacific and I will write my novel.

    • Hi there 🙂 thank you so much for your interest in my poetry. I am happy to find a kindred writer 🙂 Oh I hope you do get to realise your dream of seeing the pacific 😀 If you go to the top of the North Island in New Zealand, you can see the Tasman and the Pacific oceans clashing together 🙂
