NANOWRIMO Diary 2020 – Day One

How did your first NANOWRIMO day go? Mine was terrible… I was so distracted and couldn’t focus on my story a single bit until it was almost time to go to bed lol, That is just so typical of me to finally get the creativity flowing when I have to stop writing. Anyway, I hope you all had a more productive first day than I did!

One thing I have also noticed is that I seem to get distracted with other story ideas when I am currently writing one – does that ever happen to you when you write? It’s like the ideas won’t come when you’re sitting down trying to think of something interesting and engaging to write and then bam! Out of nowhere, you get a whole flood of ideas or at least beginnings of something you could turn into something better. So I still managed to get the required amount of words written but it was a rough start and I am hoping to improve over time while I keep track of my progress.

I also found out that officially, a first draft for NANOWRIMO should be around 50,000 words so I have a soft target of half that and a hard target of 50K. I’m going to do my best to reach 50. Do you have any different targets for NANOWRIMO? Let me know how you’re all getting on readers!
