SHORT STORY TRIGGER WARNING – This short story contains elements of assault, sexual assault, violence, strong language and death.
Milly came pretty close to running into the posse that was after the infamous “Jackson Brothers Gang”. They were searching high and low for Ethan and his brothers, and the prices on their heads seemed to get higher everywhere she went.
Milly pulled down a wanted poster she saw in one town she passed through of Ethan Jackson.
“Wanted for the Killing of Tyler Smith,”
The likeness wasn’t too good. It looked just like anyone, really. But the reward was $500 dollars. That was a lot of money for one person. A smile crept across Milly’s lips at the thought of James being caught by the posse.
Milly would love to see James hang.
But not Ethan. No. Milly needed to deal with Ethan herself. Even though Milly wasn’t quite sure how that would happen or what she would do if she ever saw Ethan again.
Milly shivered. There was a sudden chill in the air, even though it was as hot as hell out here. And the question that Running Elk asked Milly returned to her;
“So you could end his life then?”
Milly looked down at the poster of Ethan in her hands.
Milly took the poster, found two rusty nails and nailed it to the post, covering up the holes she had made with her knife. Milly’s dog watched her from the shade as she walked back to her starting position.
Milly lifted her knife and aimed at the poster of Ethan, her left eye twitching in the sunlight.
She let loose the knife, throwing it dead centre, hitting the image of Ethan square in the head.
