I started out with the best intentions this year in terms of writing goals I wanted to achieve. But today, I slept right through the alarm to wake me up at 7am this morning, so I could work through Joe Bunting’s training on story structure.
I guess I was more tired than I expected – I have no excuse. I failed, and that is all there is to it. Now I need to reassess as I won’t be able to do the training again because it was a live webinar. Sometimes living where I do sucks because my time zone is so far out – mostly 16 hours ahead of PST. But that is not an excuse just an observation and a fact I should have paid more attention to.
One good thing of note is that I am well on the way to writing three articles for the movie website I mentioned in an earlier post. It’s a little slow going, but I am okay with that because we have a lot on. My partner and I have increased our weekly movie podcast to two episodes a week because we found we just didn’t have enough time to review and discuss everything we watch in one podcast. Our podcast is simply two people talking about film and TV shows. Some people might find that boring, but we like the bare-bones approach. We don’t add anything to our podcasts like music or transitions or any of that stuff. It’s just us, and we enjoy it.
My goal was always to write about film and the entertainment world in general. My point is that while I seem to be struggling with some tasks on my list, I am doing well in others and slowly progressing towards something positive.
I am writing every day, which was a goal I set myself in March of last year. It was simply to get into a writing routine every day, and I haven’t looked back. I even managed to maintain a journal since we went into lockdown last year. I’m still writing in it. That did surprise me.
And here we are, a new year with new goals to achieve! I am also finally learning about SEO which I should probably add to my list of goals too. I have had a mild interest in SEO, but at the time, it seemed like a lot of work. I am doing this through Neil Patel’s website, which is amazing for anyone wanting to learn the ins and outs of SEO to improve your Google rankings for content. There is so much more to learn from him than I anticipated, but I am dedicated to the cause.
A bit of a downer to begin with, but the day has improved, and I feel a lot more positive about it now. Goal setting is easy. It’s keeping to the path so that you reach the difficult goal.
Have you set yourself goals to achieve this year or even this week? Are you struggling like I am with my goals? How are you dealing with your struggle? Please let me know in the comments, I look forward to hearing your stories!
