Milly always knew she’d be on her own again soon enough. But she was grateful to Ethan for all he had done, even if he was a Jackson…
Milly got to thinking she really didn’t know all that much about Ethan. And even though they had spent a lot of their time over the last week or so training with the knife and what not, Ethan wasn’t much for talking.
“See Milly… life, it’s all about survival, you understand?” the man said, throwing his knife towards the post and hitting it dead centre.
Milly thought long and hard about the previous day up on the hill by Old Miller’s farm. And in particular, about the angel who said he wasn’t an angel, but Milly knew that he was even if he said he wasn’t.
The dirt made a thumping sound as it hit the back of Milly’s head. Milly lifted her shoulders, shook her hair and kept walking. Her hair was so dirty now, a little more dirt wouldn’t matter all that much.
